Near Shanhaiguan is the start of the Great Wall with a rather interesting museum. Shanhaiguan is still fully walled and in recent years was renovated/reconstructed to make it attractive for tourism, and it appears to have worked...

The Great Wall near Shanhaiguan... as it was quite hot, the cable car didn't work, I decided to be lazy and let the camera doing the climbing...
